Located on the east side of Vancouver Island, the town of Nanaimo juts out into the Straight of Georgia to form a three-sided waterfront. Vancouver sits on the opposite side of the strait while Victoria is 70 miles to the south.
Nanaimo has one of the longest shorelines in Canada, featuring an incredible backdrop of forested hills. Mount Benson rises to the west, the Nanaimo Estuary sits just south of town and to the north is Canada’s Inner Passage and the magnificent fjords that glaciers carved from the coastal mountains millions of years ago.
